London charity shops a good hunting ground.

I have just found this beautiful book in a London charity shop in Hampstead. I paid the pricely some of 40p for it how lucky am I.  The dust cover is worn and damaged at the corners but the book itself is in near perfect condition. This edition was printed in 1977 by Book Club Associates. It seems only fitting to copy the poem at the start of the book .

Pilgrim`s Progress - printed in 1896

This is a book I bought myself at a book fair many years ago.  It is one of my favourite books and although it has some water damage it is in pretty good condition.

Pilgrims`s Progress is a classic and this book has lots of etching in black and white dotted throughout the book.   There is a name written in the book for 1909 when it seems to have been given as a gift. A £2.00 price has been written on the inside cover at some point and that is the reason I love old books. They have a history someone has cared for them, given them as a gift, or read them and its the way a book should be treated. Nothing is perfect but if it was the book would have only been stored in a shop and not had a `life`.

Wow! Photo`s taken by my son Mark in Alaska with his wife Dawn. Once they leave home life can be lonely but it great to see things like this. This is Mark and Dawns honeymoon so its a once in a lifetime trip for them.
